Worship Obedience Zechariah Chapter 7
In Zechariah 7, God confronts His people about their religious practices. They had been fasting and mourning for decades during the exile, but their hearts were far from Him. The Lord asked, “Was it really for Me that you were fasting?” (7:5). Their rituals had become empty traditions rather than true devotion.
God reminds them that what He desires is not outward performance but hearts surrendered to Him—showing mercy, compassion, justice, and kindness. Worshipful obedience means responding to God’s Word with reverence and action, letting our worship overflow into how we treat others.
This chapter calls us to examine why we do what we do for God. Is it just habit, or is it fueled by love, gratitude, and a desire to honor Him? True worship is obedience that springs from a heart devoted to God.
