When God Calls
Jul 6, 2025 • By Pastor John
Today we read about the powerful moment when God calls Elisha through Elijah. Elisha was plowing his field—busy with ordinary work—when God’s call disrupted his plans. Elijah threw his cloak over him, symbolizing the transfer of prophetic authority. Elisha didn’t hesitate. He left his oxen, sacrificed them, and burned the plow—declaring that there was no turning back.
This moment reminds us that when God calls, He calls us out of the familiar and into a life of purpose. Elisha’s response was immediate and wholehearted. He left behind comfort and control to follow God's will.
Application for us: Are we willing to surrender our comfort, plans, or routines when the Lord calls? Will we follow Him without looking back?
